Around 1880, somewhere between a fence line and a cattle drive out in the American West, cowboys needed a knife that could simply do a bit more. The stockman pattern grew out of the older cattle knife: a slipjoint that originally carried three blades on two springs. The clip blade for the rough stuff, the sheepsfoot with its straight edge and blunt tip for controlled cuts, and the spey, flat and rounded at the point, for castrating… actually, let’s not go any further into that. W.R. Case & Sons later turned the pattern into a classic of the American pocket.
Jack Wolf Knives takes exactly this pattern and boils it down to the essentials. The Gateway Stockman keeps the curved handle shape and the character of the original, but comes with a single blade instead of three. That’s how Jack Wolf works across the board: classic patterns, each reduced to one blade, no matter the series. Flat-ground Sandvik 14C28N, satin finished, just under 8 cm long, a steel that shrugs off rust and takes a shaving edge again in two minutes at the kitchen table.
What makes this version special: the smooth white bone scales make it a Knife Lounge exclusive. Add the Bullock shield, integral bolsters and liners in satin stainless steel, and nickel silver pins, and you get the tone of a real traditional knife without feeling dusty.

Designed by Benjamin Belkin in Scottsdale, Arizona, the brand is named after his grandfather Jack Wolf, who carried slipjoints his whole life.
