Handmade Knives at the Knife Lounge
Handcrafted knives are not just tools – they are expressions of passion and true craftsmanship. Each of these unique pieces combines tradition, precision, and character. With us, you'll find knives created with great attention to detail by renowned designers like Heidi Blacksmith, Nico Fetting, Martin Huber, and Ramon Hanelt.
Craftsmanship and Attention to Detail
The handcrafted knives you can buy from us are mostly one-of-a-kind pieces, distinguished by their attention to detail and always carrying a part of the knifemaker’s soul. Blades made from carbon or Damascus steel, or handles crafted from various types of wood – each knife is made with the utmost precision by hand. Creating such knives requires not only craftsmanship but also years of experience to achieve the perfect balance between blade, handle, and weight. Simple hand-forged knives often require 15 to 20 hours of pure labor, spread over several days to allow for necessary breaks in processing, such as hardening or cooling. Especially elaborate models can involve over 150 work steps spread across several weeks.

From Practical Cutting Tool to Status Symbol
Isn't it fascinating that the history of knives goes back over 2.5 million years? Over the millennia, materials and techniques have evolved. And so, over time, pure tools became true status symbols. One of the most notable examples is the Shah Jahan Kard – an ornately decorated dagger from the 17th century, which was auctioned off at Christie’s a few years ago for 3.375 million US dollars.
Care and Sharpening
To enjoy your knife for a long time, proper cleaning and maintenance are essential. You should clean your knife right after use with lukewarm water, a mild dish soap, and a soft sponge. For knives with wooden handles, we recommend treating them occasionally with a care oil to protect the material from drying out and to keep the surface smooth. After cleaning, always dry the knife thoroughly to prevent rust.
Our tip: To maintain the sharpness of the blade, it’s a good idea to sharpen your knives regularly. In our blog post “Sharpening Knives”, you'll find everything you need to know about it.
