Griffin Co. X-Series Bolster Lock – the modern origin of an idea The Griffin Co. X-Series Bolster Lock is essentially the starting point of an idea. If the 1946 Slipjoint looks familiar to you, it’s not just your good memory – it’s because that knife was directly inspired by this design. The proportions, the distinctive bolsters, and the clean lines all originate from the X-Series. The difference? While the 1946 is the classic slipjoint interpretation of that concept, the X-Series Bolster Lock shows how the same design works with modern locking technology. Visually, the knife feels more like a futuristic tool than a nostalgic pocket knife. The large bolsters, the clear geometry, and the precise lines give it a technical appearance – almost as if it were designed in a workshop for precision instruments rather than a traditional knife shop. The key difference lies in the mechanism. Instead of a traditional backspring, the knife uses a bolster lock. The blade locks securely in place and can be released through the bolster itself – an elegant solution that operates very similarly to a frame lock. Unlike the 1946 slipjoint, the blade here is fully and securely locked during use. When it comes to materials, Griffin doesn’t cut corners either. The blade is made from CPM MagnaCut, a modern steel that delivers exactly what you want from a serious EDC knife: excellent edge retention, strong corrosion resistance, and enough toughness for real everyday use. With a blade length of about 8.9 cm and an overall length of roughly 20 cm, the knife remains very manageable, while the titanium construction with bolsters provides outstanding strength. Depending on the version, different inlays add extra texture and character, and the 3D-milled titanium clip completes the design both visually and functionally. In short, the X-Series Bolster Lock bridges two worlds: the clean design language of the 1946 Slipjoint and the modern functionality of the X-Series.

Slipjoint Folder CPM-S-30V Unlocked With the Lil' Native Slipit, Spyderco have added another very compact variant to their in-house classic. The Lil'Native Slipit is more or less the German-Legal version of this small EDC folder. While the Lil'Native was previously equipped with either a compression lock or a backlock, the Slipjoint version is now integrated into the incredibly popular Slipit series, which you surely know through knives like the UKPK or the Urban. The difference is that the Lil'Native Slipit continues to be built with the self-supporting G10 handle scales, rather than FRN scales like most other models in this series. Due to the strong back spring and a slight notch on the blade tang, the blade is held securely in the open position despite the lack of a lock. In addition, thanks to Spyderco's signature choil, you can place your index finger so that the blade doesn't accidentally flip onto your fingers. Just like its sister models, this Lil'Native has the Leaveshape blade with the tip on the center axis of the handle. The fully raised flat grind and the very edge-holding CPM S30V steel ensure the best cutting properties despite the short blade length, so you can do most things in everyday life with this knife. Don't let the name and small dimensions of the Lil'Native Slipit mislead you: this little rattle has it all. It's not just the compliant design that makes this knife so interesting. The low weight, the slim design let this everyday companion disappear inconspicuously in your pocket.

Whether as a daily tool or a stylish collector's item, pocket knives have fascinated people since the dawn of time. Knives are among the world's earliest tools, combining craftsmanship with practical application. These knives are not only works of art but also coveted collectibles and sometimes even investments. The oldest known pocket knife is over 2,500 years old, showing how long this practical tool has been part of our culture.
Pocket knives are characterized primarily by their folding mechanism, which allows the blade to be safely stored within the handle. This makes them particularly compact and safe. Today, there is a wide variety of pocket knives from various manufacturers and designers around the world. They come in different colors, blade shapes and lengths, as well as with various locking and opening mechanisms. Every pocket knife tells its own story and serves as a reliable companion in its owner's daily life.
Choosing the right pocket knife always depends on various factors that should be tailored to your personal needs and preferences.
The blade material is crucial for the knife's sharpness, durability, and maintenance. You can choose between stainless steel, non-stainless carbon or high-carbon steel, or even Damascus steel.
Our tip: For tougher tasks and demanding jobs, fixed-blade knives are ideal. They offer stability and reliability, especially for outdoor activities or craftwork. If you're looking for a compact and versatile knife for daily use, EDC knives are a great choice. They complete your EDC kit and are also true eye-catchers.
If you want to gift a pocket knife, you should also ask yourself beforehand what the recipient intends to use the pocket knife for. Is it for everyday use or more of a collector's item? A carving knife for children, or perhaps for camping? This consideration largely determines what features the knife should have.
According to Weapons Act (WaffG) § 42a, there is a prohibition on carrying certain items. These include, among other things, knives with lockable blades that can be operated with one hand and fixed-blade knives with a blade length over 12 cm. All information on the topic "What does §42a-compliant mean" can be found on our website.
