Combat Beads X-Series Bolster Lock Orange G10

Griffin Co. X-Series Bolster Lock – the modern origin of an idea

The Griffin Co. X-Series Bolster Lock is essentially the starting point of an idea. If the 1946 Slipjoint looks familiar to you, it’s not just your good memory – it’s because that knife was directly inspired by this design. The proportions, the distinctive bolsters, and the clean lines all originate from the X-Series. The difference? While the 1946 is the classic slipjoint interpretation of that concept, the X-Series Bolster Lock shows how the same design works with modern locking technology.

Visually, the knife feels more like a futuristic tool than a nostalgic pocket knife. The large bolsters, the clear geometry, and the precise lines give it a technical appearance – almost as if it were designed in a workshop for precision instruments rather than a traditional knife shop.

The key difference lies in the mechanism. Instead of a traditional backspring, the knife uses a bolster lock. The blade locks securely in place and can be released through the bolster itself – an elegant solution that operates very similarly to a frame lock. Unlike the 1946 slipjoint, the blade here is fully and securely locked during use.

When it comes to materials, Griffin doesn’t cut corners either. The blade is made from CPM MagnaCut, a modern steel that delivers exactly what you want from a serious EDC knife: excellent edge retention, strong corrosion resistance, and enough toughness for real everyday use. With a blade length of about 8.9 cm and an overall length of roughly 20 cm, the knife remains very manageable, while the titanium construction with bolsters provides outstanding strength. Depending on the version, different inlays add extra texture and character, and the 3D-milled titanium clip completes the design both visually and functionally.

In short, the X-Series Bolster Lock bridges two worlds: the clean design language of the 1946 Slipjoint and the modern functionality of the X-Series.

Danger

Danger of swallowing! Please keep out of the reach of children. Small parts such as screws could be swallowed.

But also adults: please do not swallow any screws. This will not turn you into a Terminator or RoboCop.

Warning / Safety Notice:

Risk of cuts: The most common hazard when using knives is the risk of cuts. Sharp blades can easily penetrate skin and tissue.

Blade slippage: Improper handling or applying excessive force may cause the knife to slip, leading to uncontrolled movements and potential injury.

Injuries from falling knives: Knives should never be left unsecured or placed near the edge of tables or work surfaces, as they may fall and cause injury.

Dull blades: Dull knives pose a higher risk of injury, as they require more force and are more likely to slip. Knives should therefore be sharpened regularly and properly.

Improper use: Using a knife for purposes other than its intended use (e.g. as a prying tool) can damage the blade and may result in accidents.
