Spyderco Para 3

Spyderco Para 3

A faithful companion
Most major knife manufacturers have developed their classics over the years, which are simply indispensable from the program. Spyderco's Para Military 2 is one of them, along with several other models.

But for some, this folding knife is a bit too big for everyday use, especially since there is a legal regulation in some US states that only allows blades up to a length of 3 inches.

Spyderco have therefore put the PM2 on a diet and the result can now be admired in the form of the Para 3. Well, it's not quite that simple - after all, the Para 3 is much more than just a shrunken version of the classic.
Despite the significantly smaller dimensions, the Para 3 also feels absolutely fantastic in the hand, especially when you use the finger choil at the base of the blade. This indentation allows one to guide the knife very close to the cutting edge and thus be able to transfer a lot of force to the cutting motion.

The Compression Lock, which at first glance looks like a liner lock attached to the back, provides maximum security through its locking technology, which is due to the fact that here (unlike the liner lock) a part of the plate is pushed between the blade root and the stop pin. So to destroy the lock, the vertically positioned liner would have to be crushed between the blade and the pin, which is virtually impossible.

The fully raised flat grind of the blade, which is made of CPM S45V steel, ensures optimal cutting performance and the fine tapered tip also allows for the most precise work. The blade length of exactly 3inches (hence the name of the knife) is still long enough to handle the vast majority of everyday cutting tasks with ease, yet still makes for a much more compact overall package compared to the Para Military 2.

Together with the large lanyard hole and the reversible poket clip (making the knife perfectly suitable for left-handers), you get a really robust yet handy pocket knife with the Para 3, which proves to be an absolutely faithful companion in everyday life.

Weiter so!

Warning / Safety Notice:

Risk of cuts: The most common hazard when using knives is the risk of cuts. Sharp blades can easily penetrate skin and tissue.

Blade slippage: Improper handling or applying excessive force may cause the knife to slip, leading to uncontrolled movements and potential injury.

Injuries from falling knives: Knives should never be left unsecured or placed near the edge of tables or work surfaces, as they may fall and cause injury.

Dull blades: Dull knives pose a higher risk of injury, as they require more force and are more likely to slip. Knives should therefore be sharpened regularly and properly.

Improper use: Using a knife for purposes other than its intended use (e.g. as a prying tool) can damage the blade and may result in accidents.

The patented manufacturing process creates a material structure that takes on an incredible hardness and thus makes the blade extremely cut-resistant. At the same time, CPM S110V steel is very rust resistant, making it perfect for food processing. Did you know? The handle scales on this version have a hue that the manufacturer claims is purple.Due to the high blue content in the color, however, the term "blurple" has rather become accepted (blue + purple = blurple).

Spyderco Tenacious Lightweight black – Image 1

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

Spyderco Tenacious Lightweight black
only 105 grams heavy blade black oxidized Price-Performance-Cracker! The Spyderco Tenacious has been for many knife fans the entry drug at Spyderco. It is simply incredible what you get here for a comparatively small penny. Now the popular Tenacious is also available in LW (Lightweight) variant with coated blade in the All Black Everything version. The handle scales made of FRN (Fibre Reinforced Nylon) have the typical Spyderco pattern, which provides an enormously good grip. So you can work safely with the knife even with slippery or wet hands. The blade is locked securely via the liner lock which can be operated with one hand without any problems. The wire clip is convertible and lets the only 105gr. light knife discreetly disappear in the pocket. The 8Cr13MoV steel used for the blade is already quite rust resistant. Through the robust oxide coating, the material is even less susceptible and also looks extremely good. Just as with the original version, the ergonomics of the Tenacious is also the decisive point with the LW variant. The hand position is simply sensationally good and proves once again that Spyderco chief designer Sal Glesser simply has an incredibly good feel for handle shapes. Here you simply get a knife that is effortless to work with for a long time without being uncomfortable in the hand. So if you're looking for a knife that's great to work with or want to get closer to the Spyderco brand, the Spyderco Tenacious LW is a very clear recommendation.

Spyderco Para Military 2 Maxamet – Image 2

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

Spyderco Para Military 2 Maxamet
Spyderco Para Military 2 Maxamet Maxamet version Gray G10 Scales  Made in Golden/Colorado/USA/Earth   The EDC Classic Don't be put off by the name of this absolute classic - this is no combat knife or any other kind of military stabbing weapon. The Para Military 2 - or PM2 - is one of the most popular and versatile knives Spyderco has in its lineup. Originally introduced in 2010, this all-around knife has been improved upon over the years, making this cutting tool an absolutely mature design by now. The incredibly ergonomically shaped handle, is designed for maximum control when working with the knife and allows a variety of ways to guide the blade. Really great is the fingerchoil (an indentation at the base of the blade), which makes it possible to grip the knife very close to the cutting edge to transmit maximum force to the cutting movement. Thanks to the attached filing (jimping), you have an absolutely secure grip even in this position and the knife never threatens to slip away thanks to the gray G10 surface of the handle. The steel plates are recessed into the handle material and generously milled out to save weight. An absolute highlight of the PM2s is the Compression Lock. At first glance, this locking technology looks like a liner lock placed at the rear - but a closer look reveals that it is not. With Compression Lock, the liner moves between the blade root and the back stop pin. To destroy this lock, the steel liner would have to be squashed between the blade root and the pin, which is virtually impossible. This construction makes the Para Military 2 one of the most stable pocket knives on the market. In this version of the knife, the blade is made of the rather unusual Maxamet steel. This is a high-speed tool steel manufactured by Carpenter in the USA, which is not only impressively sharp thanks to its incredibly high carbon content, but also incredibly hard due to the composition of the alloy. Spyderco has a hardness of over 67 HRC, which is an incredibly high value in the pocket knife world. The result is a blade whose cutting edge has a very long service life and remains sharp for an amazingly long time. The fully raised flat grind ensures optimum cutting performance and the fine point allows even the finest detail work. Thanks to the reversible pocket clip on both sides, the knife is ideal for both right- and left-handed users, while the large lanyard hole allows a safety strap to be attached.

Spyderco Manix 2 Lightweight Brown CPM 15V Sprint Run – Image 1
Spyderco Manix 2 Lightweight Brown CPM 15V Sprint Run
Maximum edge retention meets minimum weight – in a one-time-only special edition. The Manix 2 Lightweight has long been a staple in the world of modern EDC folders – but this version pushes performance to a whole new level. The blade is made from CPM-15V, a state-of-the-art powder metallurgy steel with an incredible vanadium content of nearly 15%. The result? Extreme wear resistance and edge retention that outperforms S30V, S110V – even Magnacut. Spyderco teamed up with custom maker Shawn Houston (aka "Big Brown Bear") to give this blade a specialized heat treatment. His process is known for squeezing the absolute maximum performance out of high-alloy steels – and this Manix 2 shows it. Thanks to the lightweight FRCP handle, the knife weighs just 82 grams (2.9 oz), despite its generous size. Paired with a reversible deep-carry clip, ambidextrous Ball Bearing Lock, and that unmistakable Spyderco ergonomics, this knife is built to be your daily workhorse – wherever you carry it. And here’s the key detail: This model is a true Sprint Run. That means Spyderco only produced it once. After that single production batch, the unique tooling and jigs used for this version are retired or even destroyed. There will be no restock, no second round – once it’s gone, it’s gone.

Spyderco Manix 2 black G10
Compact EDC workhorse knife Eric Glesser Design Ball Bearing Lock Eric's First  Spyderco has been a family business from the beginning. At the very start, the company consisted practically only of Sal Glesser and his wife, who drove around the country with a bus and visited trade shows. Today, Spyderco is based in Golden, Colorado, and has become one of the leading pocket knife manufacturers in the USA. In addition to Sal Glesser, today it is primarily his son Eric who has taken the management of the company in hand. And even his first design, the Manix 2, is a hit. The Manix 2 is definitely one of the Spyderco knives you'll pick up and not want to put aside again. The ergonomic design offers an incredibly comfortable hand position so that this tool literally sticks in your hand while working. On two solid steel liners sit handle scales made of indestructible G10, which can really take a beating. A central feature of the Manix 2 is the Ball Bearing Lock. Here, a thick steel ball, which sits in a plastic cage, is pushed onto the blade root by means of a centrally mounted spring. This prevents the blade from simply folding back in. This lock is not only incredibly sturdy but also has a completely unique feel. The blade action has a gentle resistance, so that a very controlled action is achieved. The leaf-shaped blade made of CPM S30V is opened, as you know it from Spyderco for sure, through the large thumbhole. With the blade tip located on the center axis of the knife, you have maximum control over the knife when working with the Manix 2 and can also do very precise cutting work. The fully raised flat ground provides the best cutting properties so that working with this rattle is simply fun.

Spyderco Para Military 2 Lightweight CTS BD1N Black FRN PlainEdge – Image 2
Spyderco Para Military 2 Lightweight CTS BD1N Black FRN PlainEdge
Spyderco Paramilitary 2 Lightweight – CTS BD1N Fifty years of Spyderco do not stand for nostalgia – they stand for evolution. Since 1976, the company from Golden, Colorado has shaped the modern folding knife like few others. The pocket clip, the iconic Round Hole, the Compression Lock – innovations that are standard today started here. The Spyderco Paramilitary 2 Lightweight carries that legacy forward in a version deliberately optimized for real-world everyday carry. The Lightweight configuration replaces traditional G10 with fiberglass-reinforced nylon (FRN) handle scales. This significantly reduces weight while maintaining structural strength and rigidity. The signature bi-directional texturing provides excellent grip in wet conditions, cold environments, or during demanding work tasks. The knife feels light in pocket, yet solid and controlled in hand – exactly what a serious EDC tool should deliver. This version features CTS BD1N steel (sometimes incorrectly referred to as “CTS1 B1”). BD1N is a nitrogen-enhanced evolution of CTS BD1. The addition of nitrogen improves corrosion resistance and promotes a finer, more uniform carbide structure. The result is a well-balanced performance steel offering strong edge retention, excellent rust resistance, and easy maintenance in the field. For everyday use – from humid coastal climates to workshop environments – BD1N proves to be highly practical and reliable. The blade retains the proven full-flat ground drop point profile, delivering clean slicing performance across cardboard, packaging, wood, cordage, and daily utility tasks. The pronounced thumb ramp with jimping adds extra control for precise cuts. The Paramilitary 2 is not built as a display piece – it is engineered as a working tool. At the core remains the Compression Lock, a Spyderco-designed mechanism that allows safe one-handed operation while keeping fingers clear of the blade path. Over decades of refinement, it has become one of the most respected locking systems in production knives, combining strength, reliability, and smooth functionality. As Spyderco celebrates its 50-year anniversary, the Paramilitary 2 Lightweight with CTS BD1N represents the company’s philosophy perfectly: continuous refinement instead of short-lived trends. A lightweight, technically mature EDC knife trusted worldwide and regarded as one of the most relevant everyday folding knives on the market. The Spyderco Paramilitary 2 Lightweight CTS BD1N is not a stripped-down alternative – it is a purpose-driven evolution of a modern classic. Refined over five decades. Built for daily performance.

Spyderco Para Military 2 SALT  Don’t be misled by the name of this Spyderco classic – the Para Military 2 is not a combat knife but a well-thought-out, versatile everyday knife that has been one of Spyderco’s most popular models for years. In the SALT version, it is designed for maximum corrosion resistance and sets new standards with its CPM Magnacut blade in terms of edge retention and rust resistance. The black DLC coating on the blade and hardware not only provides a slightly tactical, low-profile appearance but also adds extra protection against corrosion. In addition, it minimizes reflections on the surface. The ergonomically shaped handle fits perfectly in your hand and provides maximum control for any cutting task. The grippy Caribbean Bi-Directional texture on the G10 handle scales prevents slipping even when wet or sweaty and gives the knife its distinctive character. The nested and milled steel liners inside the handle reduce weight while maintaining strength and stability. Another highlight is the Compression Lock – an extremely robust and secure locking mechanism that makes the Para Military 2 one of the most durable folding knives in its class. The precisely machined finger choil allows you to grip close to the edge, while the jimping on the blade and handle ensures a solid and confident grip. Thanks to the reversible pocket clip, the PM2 is perfectly suited for both right- and left-handed users, and the generous lanyard hole allows you to attach a paracord or fob for easy carry. In short: the Para Military 2 SALT is a refined, uncompromising high-end EDC with maximum corrosion resistance, a sleek black DLC finish, and a handle that guarantees a secure grip in any situation.
