Spyderco Stretch 2 Lightweight K390

Spyderco Stretch 2 Lightweight K390

  • K390 steel
  • Lighweight alternative to the Para Military 2
  • 105 gram

Hard at work

The Stretch 2 eked out a shadowy existence for a long time with the Spyderco knives from the Lightweight series. Among Spyderco fans, however, this model has long been an insider tip. Maybe you have ever wanted a Spyderco Paramilitary 2 Lightweight? Here you go: the Stretch 2 with the K390 steel blade is basically just that.

Well, not exactly, of course. But the similarities between these two models is enormous. First of all, there's the extremely ergonomically shaped handle: thanks to the rounded FRN handle scales, which here have been kept in a very "tooly" steel blue, they fit incredibly well in your hand, so that even longer carving sessions won't cause you any pain. In the middle of the back of the blade you will find Spyderco's famous Mid-Lock, which can be operated effortlessly thanks to the Boye Detent.

The biggest similarity to the PM2 can be found in the blade. Thanks to the straight spine and the bulbous tip, you have a real workhorse of a pocket knife. Thanks to the material thickness of only 3mm, cutting with the Stretch is simply fun. The used K390 steel from hler is quite an exotic among today's knife steels. This powder-metallurgical tool steel is not only incredibly tough, but also has an insane cutting ability. The only thing you have to keep an eye on is corrosion - like most tool steels, K390 is not completely stainless.

The pocket clip you can of course convert to all 4 positions and the Stretch 2 thus adapt to your way of wearing. If the Spyderco PM2 was always a bit too angular for you, if you like exotic blade steels or if you fancy a large work knife, you'll be right at home with this model from Spyderco.

Gerne mal wieder!

Warning / Safety Notice:

Risk of cuts: The most common hazard when using knives is the risk of cuts. Sharp blades can easily penetrate skin and tissue.

Blade slippage: Improper handling or applying excessive force may cause the knife to slip, leading to uncontrolled movements and potential injury.

Injuries from falling knives: Knives should never be left unsecured or placed near the edge of tables or work surfaces, as they may fall and cause injury.

Dull blades: Dull knives pose a higher risk of injury, as they require more force and are more likely to slip. Knives should therefore be sharpened regularly and properly.

Improper use: Using a knife for purposes other than its intended use (e.g. as a prying tool) can damage the blade and may result in accidents.

Spyderco Para 3 Salt Black G10 CPM Magnacut Black Blade
Black. Corrosion-resistant. Compact – the Para 3 Salt in MagnaCut with DLC The Para 3 Salt Black (C223GMCBKP) is Spyderco's answer to the question: how do you build a Para 3 that performs under the harshest conditions? The answer is uncompromising: a CPM MagnaCut blade with black DLC coating, G10 handle scales with a Caribbean texture pattern for maximum grip in wet conditions – all in an all-black setup that disappears in your pocket. The little brother of the Para Military 2 – now in the Salt Series The Para Military 2 is one of the most popular EDC knives in the world. The Para 3 manages to pack the same ergonomics, the same Compression Lock and the same cutting performance into a more compact package – with a 74mm blade instead of the PM2's 87mm. For the Salt Series, Spyderco took the Para 3 one step further: every component is designed for maximum corrosion resistance. The result is a knife that works reliably on the beach, on the boat, or in any weather. CPM MagnaCut with DLC – the best of both worlds As an owner-run knife shop in Hamburg, we've handled the Para 3 in many steel variants. This combination is something special: CPM MagnaCut already delivers excellent corrosion resistance – the additional DLC coating (Diamond-Like Carbon) protects the blade surface even further, reduces reflections and gives the knife its distinctive all-black finish. Steel Edge retention Corrosion resistance Sharpenability CPM MagnaCut + DLC ★★★★★ ★★★★★ ★★★★☆ CPM SPY27 ★★★★☆ ★★★★☆ ★★★★★ CTS BD1 ★★★☆☆ ★★★★☆ ★★★★★ LC200-N ★★★☆☆ ★★★★★ ★★★★★ Caribbean Bi-Directional Texture – grip that actually grips The black G10 handle scales are more than just a visual statement. Spyderco has applied their Caribbean Bi-Directional Texture pattern here – arced CNC-machined grooves that radiate from the centre of the handle, providing secure grip in every hand position, even with wet or gloved hands. This isn't a design detail, it's a functional decision for use in and around water. Compression Lock – one of the strongest locks on the market The Compression Lock is Spyderco's most ingenious invention: unlike a traditional liner lock, the Compression Lock drives part of the liner between the blade tang and the stop pin. To defeat this lock, the steel liner would literally have to be crushed – which is virtually impossible. The result is a knife you can work with confidently, with full trust in the blade. Clip & carry options The clip can be mounted in four positions: left or right, tip-up or tip-down. However, the Compression Lock is fixed on the right side of the handle – the knife is therefore not fully ambidextrous. Left-handed users should take this into account before purchasing. Frequently asked questions about the Spyderco Para 3 Salt Black C223GMCBKP Is the Para 3 Salt legal to carry in Germany? The Para 3 Salt features a Compression Lock – the blade locks firmly in the open position. Under §42a of the German Weapons Act it is classified as a one-handed knife and may only be carried in public with a legitimate reason. If you're looking for a legal everyday carry Spyderco, take a look at the UKPK C94PYL. What is the difference between the Para 3 and the Para Military 2? The Para 3 is the more compact version of the PM2: shorter blade (74mm vs 87mm), shorter handle, lower weight. The Compression Lock, Spyderhole and ergonomics are identical. If the PM2 feels too large, or you live somewhere with blade length restrictions, the Para 3 is the better choice. What does DLC coating mean? DLC stands for Diamond-Like Carbon – an extremely thin, hard carbon coating applied to the blade surface. It adds an extra layer of corrosion protection, reduces reflections and gives the knife its matte all-black finish. The cutting edge itself remains uncoated. What is the Caribbean Bi-Directional Texture pattern? A CNC-machined grip pattern developed by Spyderco featuring arced grooves that radiate from the centre of the handle. It provides secure grip in every hand position – particularly useful in wet or gloved conditions. Is the Para 3 Salt suitable for left-handed users? Partially. The clip is reversible and can be mounted in four positions, but the Compression Lock is fixed on the right side of the handle. The knife is not fully ambidextrous – left-handed users should factor this in before purchasing. How do I sharpen a DLC-coated MagnaCut blade? The DLC coating sits on the blade face only, not on the edge itself – so sharpening works as normal. MagnaCut runs at approximately 61–63 HRC, which means a basic honing steel won't be sufficient. We recommend a whetstone (400–1000 grit) or a quality ceramic rod. For day-to-day maintenance, stropping on leather keeps the edge going significantly longer between full sharpenings.

Spyderco Para Military 2 Lightweight CTS BD1N Black Blade – Image 1
Spyderco Para Military 2 Lightweight CTS BD1N Black Blade
FRN handle CTS BD-1N blade with four-way reversible clipThe EDC Classic Don't let the name of this absolute classic scare you - this is not a combat knife or any other kind of military stabbing weapon. The Para Military 2 - or PM2 - is one of the most popular and versatile knives Spyderco has in its lineup. Originally introduced in 2010, this all-around knife has been improved upon over the years, making this cutting tool an absolutely mature design by now.The incredibly ergonomic handle, is designed for maximum control when working with the knife and allows you a variety of ways to wield the blade. Really great is the so-called Fingerchoil (an indentation at the base of the blade), which makes it possible for you to grip the knife very close to the cutting edge to transfer maximum force to the cutting movement. Thanks to the attached filings (jimping), you have an absolutely secure grip even in this position, and the knife never threatens to slip from your grasp thanks to the rough FRN surface of the handle. The steel plates are recessed in the handle material and generously milled out to save weight. An absolute highlight of the PM2s is the Compression Lock. At first glance, this locking technology looks like a rear-positioned liner lock - but a closer look reveals that this is not the case. With the Compression Lock, the liner moves between the blade root and the stop pin on the back. To destroy this lock, the steel liner between the blade root and the pin would have to be crushed, which is virtually impossible. This construction makes the Para Military 2 one of the most stable pocket knives the market has to offer. The blade is made of CTS BD-1N steel. The fully raised flat grind provides optimal cutting performance and the fine point allows you to do the finest detail work. Thanks to the reversible pocket clip on both sides, the knife is ideal for both right and left-handed users, while the large lanyard hole allows you to attach a safety strap.

Spyderco Para Military 2 Lightweight CTS BD1N Black FRN PlainEdge – Image 2
Spyderco Para Military 2 Lightweight CTS BD1N Black FRN PlainEdge
Spyderco Paramilitary 2 Lightweight – CTS BD1N Fifty years of Spyderco do not stand for nostalgia – they stand for evolution. Since 1976, the company from Golden, Colorado has shaped the modern folding knife like few others. The pocket clip, the iconic Round Hole, the Compression Lock – innovations that are standard today started here. The Spyderco Paramilitary 2 Lightweight carries that legacy forward in a version deliberately optimized for real-world everyday carry. The Lightweight configuration replaces traditional G10 with fiberglass-reinforced nylon (FRN) handle scales. This significantly reduces weight while maintaining structural strength and rigidity. The signature bi-directional texturing provides excellent grip in wet conditions, cold environments, or during demanding work tasks. The knife feels light in pocket, yet solid and controlled in hand – exactly what a serious EDC tool should deliver. This version features CTS BD1N steel (sometimes incorrectly referred to as “CTS1 B1”). BD1N is a nitrogen-enhanced evolution of CTS BD1. The addition of nitrogen improves corrosion resistance and promotes a finer, more uniform carbide structure. The result is a well-balanced performance steel offering strong edge retention, excellent rust resistance, and easy maintenance in the field. For everyday use – from humid coastal climates to workshop environments – BD1N proves to be highly practical and reliable. The blade retains the proven full-flat ground drop point profile, delivering clean slicing performance across cardboard, packaging, wood, cordage, and daily utility tasks. The pronounced thumb ramp with jimping adds extra control for precise cuts. The Paramilitary 2 is not built as a display piece – it is engineered as a working tool. At the core remains the Compression Lock, a Spyderco-designed mechanism that allows safe one-handed operation while keeping fingers clear of the blade path. Over decades of refinement, it has become one of the most respected locking systems in production knives, combining strength, reliability, and smooth functionality. As Spyderco celebrates its 50-year anniversary, the Paramilitary 2 Lightweight with CTS BD1N represents the company’s philosophy perfectly: continuous refinement instead of short-lived trends. A lightweight, technically mature EDC knife trusted worldwide and regarded as one of the most relevant everyday folding knives on the market. The Spyderco Paramilitary 2 Lightweight CTS BD1N is not a stripped-down alternative – it is a purpose-driven evolution of a modern classic. Refined over five decades. Built for daily performance.

Spyderco Para Military 2 Salt Black G10 CPM Magnacut Black Blade – Image 1
Spyderco Para Military 2 Salt Black G10 CPM Magnacut Black Blade
Spyderco Para Military 2 SALT  Don’t be misled by the name of this Spyderco classic – the Para Military 2 is not a combat knife but a well-thought-out, versatile everyday knife that has been one of Spyderco’s most popular models for years. In the SALT version, it is designed for maximum corrosion resistance and sets new standards with its CPM Magnacut blade in terms of edge retention and rust resistance. The black DLC coating on the blade and hardware not only provides a slightly tactical, low-profile appearance but also adds extra protection against corrosion. In addition, it minimizes reflections on the surface. The ergonomically shaped handle fits perfectly in your hand and provides maximum control for any cutting task. The grippy Caribbean Bi-Directional texture on the G10 handle scales prevents slipping even when wet or sweaty and gives the knife its distinctive character. The nested and milled steel liners inside the handle reduce weight while maintaining strength and stability. Another highlight is the Compression Lock – an extremely robust and secure locking mechanism that makes the Para Military 2 one of the most durable folding knives in its class. The precisely machined finger choil allows you to grip close to the edge, while the jimping on the blade and handle ensures a solid and confident grip. Thanks to the reversible pocket clip, the PM2 is perfectly suited for both right- and left-handed users, and the generous lanyard hole allows you to attach a paracord or fob for easy carry. In short: the Para Military 2 SALT is a refined, uncompromising high-end EDC with maximum corrosion resistance, a sleek black DLC finish, and a handle that guarantees a secure grip in any situation.
