The second step
A knife that has accompanied our path for a long time is the Böker Haddock. This model - then still manufactured by Böker Manufaktur in Solingen - was one of the first more expensive pocket knives that we included in our program. Since then, the Haddock has appeared in countless versions and is now sold under the Böker Plus label. When considering which should be our second KnifeLounge Exclusive knife, the choice of the Haddock Pro was obvious, as we were completely convinced by the standard variant of this model designed by Jens Ansø. For the first time, this knife is now available for under 100,- Euro!
The idiosyncratically shaped blade with the curved blade back and the nail nick reminds us a little bit of the beak of a bird, but proves to be extremely cutting-friendly due to the long drawn belly of the cutting edge. With a thickness of a full 5 mm, Böker has used a considerable piece of steel here and you could believe that this is more of a crowbar with a cutting bevel than a knife. The trick lies in the very far to the top flat grind, which was set in such a way that the blade runs out thinly to the cutting bevel. For the steel, we chose the very tough D2 tool steel. This steel is not only extremely resilient, but also takes on a very high sharpness. To protect the blade from flash rust, we advise you to clean your knife with a little oil every now and then.
The handle, like the blade, bears the typical signature of Jens Ansø. Unlike its predecessor, the Haddock Pro now features a liner lock. For our KnifeLounge Exclusive version, we have chosen Micarta as the handle material. It was important to us to be able to offer our customers two color variations. So we have the knife once with brown Micarta and - matching our beloved Chesterfield armchair in our Knife Lounge - in a rich dark green.
All in all, you are dealing with a knife that is both a piece of jewelry and a tool. Whether in your display case or in the pocket of your favorite pair of jeans, the Haddock Pro in the KnifeLounge Exclusive variant cuts a fine figure all around.

Fetter massiver Schneidteufel!!!
Dieses Messer besitzt eine dicke beeindruckende 5mm Klinge. Mich begeistert der super scharfe Anschliff. Ein mächtiges Alltags Werkzeug und trotzdem Hosentaschen tauglich. Außerdem finde ich die Klingenform inklusive Griff super Sexy und es liegt sehr gut in der Hand. Auf Grund der tollen Verarbeitung eine 100%ige Kaufempfehlung meinerseits.

Lovely design, having some issues with mine.
Nicely packaged and was sharp out the box. A little off center, but not a big deal. Lock up was good out of the box, but within a few days developed some pretty severe blade play, particularly vertically, or in the direction of travel open/closing the blade. I suspect the stop bar may be loose, so I’m planning to take it apart and see what’s going on. Spare internal parts and a pocket clip included which is awesome! I love the looks and design and would rate it higher if I didn’t have my initial issues with opening/lock up.

chic, mais "épais"
j'ai été surpris, je pensais a un couteau fin et délicat, mais c'est plutot un bon gros travailleur ! le seul reproche que je lui ferais serait ça retention, qui est un peu molle, ce n'est pas handicapant, mais a prendre en compte tout de meme !

Mächtiges Werkzeug
Kommt wie immer sehr schnell und in einer tollen Verpackung. Das Gewicht der 5mm Klinge machen aus dem Messer ein mächtiges Werkzeug. Toll. Da kann man richtig hart mit arbeiten. Diese Sonderausgabe der ASW mit den beiden Micarta Varianten ist eine tolle Alternative zum Original. Ich habe den Clip abgeschraubt. Ohne den Clip liegt mir das Messer beim festen zugreifen so besser in der Hand. Toll, dass man hier auch ein Lanyard befestigen kann.

Great lines and powerful blade
A great knife, comes sharpish out of the box, but a quick sharpen on waterstones helps. It would be perfect if there was a small groove at the base of the blade to help sharpening, the cutting edge goes right up to the ricasso so its tricky to sharpen at the base. But great knife and super packaging from altonaer !

Insgesamt gut und wertig
Das Messer hätte von mir die volle Punktzahl erhalten, wenn die Klinge mittig liegen würde. Ansonsten toller, sauberer Flachschliff, gut verarbeitet, schönes Micarta und schneidet wie Atze ??!

Haddock Pro, mächtige Klinge mit Flachschliff
Anständige Verarbeitung mit einer starken Klinge und einem schönen Farbton, braun aber auch passend zur Serie Knife Lounge. Habe ja auch das Grüne und bin von beiden begeistert.

Mein bestes Messer bis jetzt
Was soll ich sagen, für mich ist es ein perfektes "großes" Messer für "Wald" und immerdabei. Fast bereue ich es, vor einigen Monaten ein Giantmouse GMF1 gekauft zu haben. Superstabil, spielfrei und sehr schön anzufassen und anzusehen.
