With a diameter of 3.8 cm and a thickness of 2.5 mm, this coin is presented in a noble matt black zinc alloy, which is perfectly complemented by hard-applied gold accents. The interplay of colors and materials gives it an impressive, timeless aesthetic.
The road to the perfect coin was difficult. It took over two years from the initial idea to final completion. The reason? Sam's uncompromising demand for quality. It took several changes of the manufacturer to implement his vision exactly as it was conceived. For example, over 30% of the coins had to be remade to meet Sam's expectations.
But the global challenges of our time are also part of the story: the final manufacturer was hit during an extremely severe hurricane in Florida and had to rebuild his shop from scratch, which again led to considerable delays.
The central point of the Raven the Pirate coin is the saying:
“Life is fleeting. Catch it and cherish it forever."
The stylized lens of a camera adorns the surface below – a romantic homage to Sam's love of photography and its ability to capture fleeting moments for eternity. This fleetingness and the essence of transience are represented by the skull on the other side.
