The Compact Fixed Beast
7 mm blade stock. Seven. That’s not a typo. For a knife of this size, that’s roughly the equivalent of putting a ship engine into a compact car — slightly absurd, but also kind of amazing.
Imagine Jesper Voxnaes sitting at his workbench late at night, thinking: What if a fixed blade could be as compact and easy to carry as a good folder — but strong enough to pry open a submarine hatch if necessary? The result is the GiantMouse GMF5: a pocket-sized fixed blade built with serious overkill in mind.
The blade is made from N690 steel, an Austrian steel well known for its excellent corrosion resistance, solid edge retention, and easy maintenance. In other words: a proven all-rounder that works just as well in everyday carry as it does outdoors. The full flat grind tapers down cleanly for efficient cutting performance, while depending on the version, the knife comes with either a satin or PVD finish.
To keep the GMF5 from becoming completely excessive, GiantMouse intentionally skipped traditional handle scales. Instead, you get an old-school full-steel construction with signature speed holes that reduce weight without sacrificing rigidity. The handle end even hints at a small prybar / impact tool function — just in case a coconut suddenly needs to lose an argument.
Despite its heavy-duty construction, the knife remains genuinely EDC-friendly. The included Kydex sheath allows for flexible carry options — pocket, belt, backpack straps, whatever fits your setup best.
And thanks to the blade length staying under 12 cm, the GMF5 remains perfectly legal to carry as an EDC fixed blade.
