Böker M4 Sherman EDC
- made of different materials from the production of M4 Sherman tanks
- Blade Steel: Magnacut
- reminiscent of the tank tracks
Tank knife
It's small, it's light, and it's just grenade good: the Sherman EDC from Böker is a not-so-small milestone in the manufacturer's history.
The hard facts speak for themselves: Titanium Framelock, a combination of washers and ball bearings, a lockbar interface with simultaneous overtravel function, flipper tab, 3D-milled clip, carbon handle scales, a backspacer made of original Sherman tank damascus and a blade made of Magnacut steel. And the whole thing is, completely made in good old Germany, more precisely in the manufactory in Solingen.
The handle
Here you get a state of the art combination of super light carbon and ultra tough titanium. This makes the Sherman EDC not only super sturdy, but it hardly weighs a thing in your pocket. The shredded carbon fiber of the handle offers an interesting look, while the blasted titanium is more reminiscent of Chris Reeve's knives.
The Backspacer
An original part of an old Sherman tank from the USA, is forged by damascus pope Chad Nichols to an 80-layer damascus and then processed by Böker to the great backspacer of the Sherman EDC. Here you carry a real piece of history in your pocket, which even under a magnifying glass still reveals amazing, optical details.
The Blade
Magnacut is without question THE steel of the 20s. What makes it special is that unlike many other super steels, this is a steel developed by Larry Thompson and designed specifically for knives. This alloy not only holds the sharpness very well, but is also incredibly resilient and very rust resistant. More is hardly possible...
Thanks to the built-in washer & ball bearing system, you get the silky blade run of ball bearings, coupled with the durability of hardened steel washers. This prevents the bearings from working their way into the softer titanium or blade over the years - reducing wear to an absolute minimum. The 3D-milled titanium clip with embedded steel ball, lets the Sherman EDC discreetly disappear in the pocket.
