  • Tri Way Pivot System
  • Slicer Grind blade with CPM S45VN steel

The classic XM-18 in Slicer Grind

The blade of this knife is made in the so-called Slicer Grind. This is a flat grind that is raised at an angle and becomes finer towards the tip, enabling precise cutting.
Despite this fineness, the typical Hinderer stability is retained - an ingenious feature of all XM-18 knives are the two thumb pins.
These not only act as a blade stop, but also rest against the titanium scales when open. This virtually eliminates lateral blade play thanks to this extremely robust design.

With Hinderer knives, a little more material is deliberately left behind the cutting bevel. This not only prevents chipping in the steel during demanding use, but also allows the cutting edge to be resharpened more frequently.
The great CPM S45VN steel is used, which was specially developed for high-quality blades.
All in all, this version of the XM-18 gives you an extremely robust folding knife that can easily handle even the toughest tasks.

Tri-Way Pivot System

Rick Hinderer has introduced the innovative "Tri-Way Pivot System" in the sixth generation of the XM-18.
This innovation gives you the flexibility to use your knife according to your preferences. You can either use it with the included nylon or bronze washers or equip it with the small ball bearings - whatever suits you best.

Finishes

Rick Hinderer offers various surface treatments:
 1. Stonewashed finish= Blade and titanium hardware are stonewashed.
 2. Working finish = Blade and titanium hardware are first sandblasted and then given their stonewash finish. The surface is more matt than with the stonewash finish
 3. Battle Bronze/Blue = Working finish in combination with a coloured anodization of the titanium hardware.

Manufacturer "Rick Hinderer Knives"

There's no question about it - Rick Hinderer is one of the greats of the US knifemaking scene.

With his decades of experience and his countless innovations (just think of the overtravel stop for Framelock folders), he has been able to make a name for himself just as much as with his collaboration with brands such as Gerber, Viper, Zero Tolerance or Kershaw.

A trained firefighter and horse trainer, Hinderer lives with his wife Lori on a farm in Ohio and still manufactures all of his knives in the USA with his crew. Hinderer's knife designs are always influenced by his experience as a firefighter and rescue diver and the demands on a blade in a "hard use situation". His knives are first and foremost tools that should enable effortless work and withstand even the highest loads.

In addition to models such as the Fulltrack, the MP-1 or the smaller Halftrack, it is primarily the XM-18 that forms the basis for Hinderer's designs. But also the tactical pens like the Extreme Duty or the Investigator Pen convince with their very high quality workmanship, the well thought-out conception and the massive use of material.

We are therefore pleased to be able to offer you a selection of Hinderer products here.
