Böker Plus Alluvial Satin Justin Lundquist Design slim Gentleman Folder handle made of aluminum Clippoint blade made of D2 with satin finishThe Böker Plus Alluvial is a masterpiece by knife designer Justin Lundquist.Inspired by the nutrient-rich young soils formed by the power of water, he sets new standards in the world of automatic knives. The D2 blade is coated with a discreet satin finish and can be easily opened and unlocked with a push button. The black aluminum handle provides additional support for the thumb through the embedded push button and blade axle screw. The front handle part is smooth and refers to the stabilized alluvial soil, while the fine texture on the rear handle part symbolizes the flowing sediment. The recessed Tip-Up (r) Clip allows for a deep carry carry style and underscores the earthy character of the knife. Justin Lundquist, fascinated by knives since the age of four, has been successfully implementing his own designs since 2013. This first joint project with Böker is proof of his unparalleled creativity and endless potential in knife design. The meaning of the name Alluvial:Alluvial refers to soil formed by the erosion and accumulation of sediment along coastlines, rivers, or lakes. It has a unique structure that is reflected in the knife design.
These soils are typically very nutrient-rich and therefore valuable for growing plants and for agricultural purposes. Alluvial soils are slowly formed over a long period of time through the constant movement and transport of sediment by rivers and seas. They are usually very fertile, containing a rich mix of mineral components, organic matter, and humus. Alluvial soils are typically found in river valleys and coastal areas and play an important role in agriculture and plant cultivation. Due to their fertility and high yield potential, they are of great value to farmers and gardeners.
Böker Plus Haddock Pro KnifeLounge Exclusive
KnifeLounge Exclusiv with Micarta handle scales
Limited edition of the Jens Anso design
Micarta handle scales and D2 steel blade
The second step
A knife that has accompanied our path for a long time is the Böker Haddock. This model - then still manufactured by Böker Manufaktur in Solingen - was one of the first more expensive pocket knives that we included in our program. Since then, the Haddock has appeared in countless versions and is now sold under the Böker Plus label. When considering which should be our second KnifeLounge Exclusive knife, the choice of the Haddock Pro was obvious, as we were completely convinced by the standard variant of this model designed by Jens Ansø. For the first time, this knife is now available for under 100,- Euro!
The idiosyncratically shaped blade with the curved blade back and the nail nick reminds us a little bit of the beak of a bird, but proves to be extremely cutting-friendly due to the long drawn belly of the cutting edge. With a thickness of a full 5 mm, Böker has used a considerable piece of steel here and you could believe that this is more of a crowbar with a cutting bevel than a knife. The trick lies in the very far to the top flat grind, which was set in such a way that the blade runs out thinly to the cutting bevel. For the steel, we chose the very tough D2 tool steel. This steel is not only extremely resilient, but also takes on a very high sharpness. To protect the blade from flash rust, we advise you to clean your knife with a little oil every now and then.
The handle, like the blade, bears the typical signature of Jens Ansø. Unlike its predecessor, the Haddock Pro now features a liner lock. For our KnifeLounge Exclusive version, we have chosen Micarta as the handle material. It was important to us to be able to offer our customers two color variations. So we have the knife once with brown Micarta and - matching our beloved Chesterfield armchair in our Knife Lounge - in a rich dark green.
All in all, you are dealing with a knife that is both a piece of jewelry and a tool. Whether in your display case or in the pocket of your favorite pair of jeans, the Haddock Pro in the KnifeLounge Exclusive variant cuts a fine figure all around.
