The Atelier
Art, craft, dance, and music - all the beautiful things that can take place in an Atelier. Aesthetics always play a big role and so it is with the GiantMouse Atelier. What may look at first glance like a Grand (GM's large folder) washed too hot, turns out to be a completely separate knife upon closer inspection.After discontinuing the original GiantMouse, the "Biblio" model, the Atelier takes the place of a small, versatile and beautiful folding knife. The blade shape is largely the same as the Grand: a long, aggressive Swedge give the knife a sporty look, while the handle with its angled end really "digs" into the hand. In keeping with the GiantMouse tradition, this knife also features a heavy solid brass backspacer for optimal balance in the handThe Elmax steel used, from Böhler, is one of the highest performance steels currently available on the market. In addition to the very high edge retention, the alloy is also extremely resistant to rust.
Only the name remains to be clarified: while the "Grand" was named after the Grand Hotel in Nuremberg, the Atelier got its name from the bar of the same name in said hotel. Whether the design of the knife was created here during a night of drinking is not exactly known - but it cannot be completely ruled out.

….perfekt.
Als das Atelier von GiantMouse und der Knife Lounge angekündigt wurde, habe ich mir nur gedacht: WARUM???…ein kleines Grand und dazu noch teurer!? Wieso? Ich habe es dann ignoriert, weil es mir das Atelier sinnfrei schien. Ich liebe meine Grand´s und bin mit meinen anderen GiantMouse Messern, groß und klein, fixed und klappbar, überaus glücklich und zufrieden. Warum also das Atelier, als ein kleines Grand, zu einem höheren Preis? Die Auswahl meiner GiantMouse Messer war immer wohl überlegt und ich kann diese trotz meiner Schwerbehinderung gut bedienen und sie helfen mir über den Tag bei etlichen Tätigkeiten. Einige Wochen habe ich überlegt, meine GiantMouse Messer betrachtet und mir das Atelier dazwischen vorgestellt. Dann habe ich mich entschlossen, mir das Atelier bei der Knife Lounge zu gönnen. An dieser Stelle wieder eimal vielen herzlichen Dank für Eure Freundlichkeit, die netten Dreingaben im Paket….und ich freue mich jedesmal über die beiliegende Karte. Das Atelier ist nun eines meiner Lieblingsmesser. Das hätte ich anfangs nicht gedacht. Ich war wegen der Größe skeptisch…..aber es liegt trotz seiner reduzierten Größe einfach nur perfekt und wunderbar ausbalanciert in meiner Hand. Trotz meiner Einschränkungen und Behinderung lässt es sich spielend leicht bedienen. Ich liebe das satte Einrasten/Klacken der Klinge beim Öffnen und auch das Schließen geht leicht. Wieder eine perfekte Verarbeitung, eine rasiermesserscharfe Klinge (Elmax Stahl), trotz seiner Größe handlich (bei meiner Männerhand: Handschuhgröße L), und in meinem Fall ist es das grüne Micarta geworden: ein wunderschönes, perfektes Messer.
